Policy and Transformation
You navigate the government landscape and influence key stakeholders to maximise our impact. You bridge the gap between technology and policy to transform public service delivery.
What does a Policy Officer at OGP do?
As an OGP policy officer, you help our product teams and the larger organisation navigate and influence the Singapore government to maximise our collective impact and transform public service delivery.
Unlike traditional policy roles, your primary focus is interpreting government structures and unlocking opportunities—both for our products to be more effective in government and to drive meaningful transformation across the public sector.
Your responsibilities include:
Enabling product success – Work as part of product teams to gain access to the right agencies and decision-makers, identify and circumvent policy blockers, ground product roadmaps in solving real problems, and align resources to achieve success
Providing policy solutions – Use your strategic view to identify where new or reimagined policies could solve problems, sometimes independent from product development
Propagating best practices – Secure buy-in from agency leaders to expand the use of OGP's products and implement our operating practices in other agencies
Supporting organisational goals – Navigate government relationships to support OGP's corporate objectives while creating learning opportunities for our team members
Scouting new opportunities – Identify and evaluate new domains and problem spaces for OGP product teams to address, helping seeded teams grow and maximise their impact
Government transformation happens when technical innovation meets practical policy implementation. Your role ensures our solutions not only work technically but achieve real change by navigating complex government structures and securing crucial stakeholder support.
You'll work on meaningful projects across transportation, education, healthcare, and more. The public sector offers countless opportunities where even simple software can significantly impact people's lives. Over 70% of our projects start as ground-up initiatives, giving you direct ownership of your work. Rather than pursuing commercial ventures, we're focused on improving society through government services.
Who we are looking for
We look for people who:
Have extensive government experience—navigating Singapore's public sector landscape effectively
Think strategically—identifying opportunities and pathways for systemic transformation
Build relationships across agencies—developing networks that enable collaborative solutions
Communicate persuasively—articulating complex ideas to diverse stakeholders
Solve bureaucratic challenges—finding creative paths through institutional barriers
Translate between worlds—helping technical teams understand government and vice versa
Demonstrate political awareness—reading situations and knowing when to push or pause
Use data to inform policy—backing recommendations with evidence and analysis
Take initiative to drive change—challenging the status quo with practical alternatives
Are committed to public service transformation—genuinely passionate about improving government
Understanding how technology can transform service delivery is valuable, though specific technical expertise is less important than your ability to bridge between technology teams and government stakeholders.
Overall, we seek candidates with ability, initiative, good communication, and strong values centred on public service.
